Craziness
Our house has been on the market for about 3 months now, and lately things have really been picking up. This past Saturday, a guy came to look at it and gave us a verbal offer on the spot. The offer was really low, so we countered and he said he wanted to come back on Sunday to look at the house again before deciding (this was along with two other showings we had this past weekend). After staying at the house for 2 hours with half his family there, he submitted a written offer. We countered that offer, to which he countered again, then we accepted with the stipulation that we wouldn't be responsible for making any repairs if anything came up on the inspection (this only amounts to about $250 at the most, but we felt like we came down so low that we really didn't want to lose any more money on the deal). Well, I guess he got cold feet because he told his agent he had to think about it then he wouldn't answer any of her calls today. He had until 5:00 tonight to decide and we haven't heard anything, so I guess he had second thoughts. So frustrating!! To make it even more disappointing, we found a house that we really want to make an offer on but we can't do anything until we have something on our house. The one ray of hope that we have is that a couple who looked at it on Sunday evening came back again today. They know that we're in negotiations (or were!), so hopefully if they are serious they will put in an offer. We're praying that is the case! All of this is wearing me out!

Bad Day
This past Saturday was a very unfortunate day for Sophie. It started in the morning with a head on collision with one of the upholstery nails that line the front arm of my sister-in-law's couch. That resulted in an immediate purple goose egg on her forehead that, three days later, is still a very prominent bruise. Later that day we were at a suprise birthday party for Chesley and Dawn when Sophie lost her footing on a step and fell, somehow rendering her right leg useless. It was bad enough that Chesley's mom, who is a nurse advised me to take her to the ER. So off we went for our very first trip to the Emergency Room (Matt, by the way was at the Superspeedway during all of this). After having several x-rays it was determined that no bones were broken but they advised me to take her to an orthopedist if she wasn't walking by Monday.
Monday came and she still wasn't walking, so we went to an orthopedist where they took more x-rays which all showed no damage. We still don't know exactly what she hurt....her knee, her hip, her foot, ankle....it's not like she can tell us. All we know is that she refuses to put any weight on her right leg. Poor little Sophie. It makes me so sad to see her crawling around and favoring that little leg. What it all boils down to is we just have to wait it out. Wait for whatever is hurt to heal. She doesn't seem to be in any pain at all unless she puts weight on that leg, so that at least is reassuring. We're just hoping and praying that she's walking again soon. She gets very frustrated with the fact that she can't get around as easily as she's used to. Please pray that she gets better soon!

Gentlemen, start your engines
Matt realized a dream today. He got to ride in a two seater Indycar at the Nashville Superspeedway. Racecar driver Davey Hamilton was at the wheel, topping speeds of 160 mph. According to Matt's account (which was somewhat hazy since he admittedly had his eyes closed for most of the ride) they lapped 3 times which as you can imagine didn't take long at all. Unfortunately, in the time it took me to get from the entrance of the speedway to the track, Matt had already gone on his ride and I missed the whole thing. It's probably for the best though. I was getting a little scared as I walked past the ambulance and fire engine that were standing by in case someone crashed. It was probably also best that I didn't read the waiver he signed until after we got home from the track. It basically said that if you die, and there is a fair chance that you will, no one can sue them, even in their negligence. Nice. Had I read that beforehand, there may not have been a ride at all. :-) Anyway, as you can see from Matt's face in the pictures he was in heaven. And I think that after all was said and done, he found a new respect for the women racecar drivers out there (I won't name any names) that he likes to pick on. :-)

4th of July
We had a great fourth of July this year. We started out at Edgar Evins state park where our friends Dawn and Chad were camping. We drove out there to have dinner with them and stayed until just before dark. Sophie had a blast playing in the gravel at their campsite. I think she spent a good 45 minutes just scooping it up into a cup and pouring it back out. After dinner, we drove to the fairgrounds in Lebanon to watch the fireworks. It was a pretty good show, and Sophie loved them. She was "oohing and ahhing" with all of us, and even applauded them at the end.
I wonder.....
I sometimes wonder what Sophie will be when she grows up. As I was looking through all the pictures we've taken in the past month, I came up with a few possibilities.....
Baby
Matt suprised us last Thursday afternoon by coming home from work early. It was a great suprise, but even better was that he was bearing gifts! Flowers for me and this baby doll for Sophie. She LOVES this doll. It has gone everywhere with us since she got it and has even taken the place of her beloved bunny. She sleeps with it, rides with it, eats with it, and drags it around the house all day. Who knew that a $6 doll from Kroger could bring so much joy?
