Snow days and tea parties

I wish I could say how much fun we had playing in the snow when it came a few weeks ago, but despite my best efforts I could not get miss priss to go outside in it. In my first attempt, she made it to the end of our very short driveway before telling me she was cold and ready to go inside. In my second attempt, we didn't even make it out the door. After spending what seemed like FOREVER getting her bundled up, she started crying right before we walked out the door because she was hot. She then tore everything off and told me she wanted to stay inside. Sigh. Maybe next time....

We did make it out to play on a warmer day last week when there were a few small patches of snow left. She did enjoy playing with it, and even attempted a snow angel in the snow/mulch. When we got inside we had a "tea" party with her adorable new tea set that her aunt Lisa got her for Christmas. Hot chocolate, plenty of marshmallows and fruit snacks are her favorites for her tea parties.

Christmas 2009

Christmas this year was a blast. Not only did Sophie "get" the Santa thing, she was a lot of fun Christmas morning opening gifts because instead of ripping right through everything, she really took her time. In fact, each time she'd open a new present she would want to play with it for a long time before opening a new one. I think it ended up taking a few hours to get through it all because we had to practically force her to open her next gift! I really tried to sit back and enjoy it all because I know that it will probably be a whole lot different next year!

here she is with her "banjo" as she calls it

Big Girl Bed

I felt this deserved its own post, because putting Sophie in a big girl bed is by far the BEST thing we've ever done. As those who are close to us know, Sophie has never been a good sleeper. Ever since she started sleeping in her new bed, she has been sleeping amazingly well. We're talking sleeping all night long without waking up....this has been huge! Matt and I are so glad we get a few months' good sleep before the baby comes and we kiss it goodbye. :-) Oh well, we'll take what we can get.
