sold????

We got an offer on our house today. It was actually fairly reasonable other than the fact that the guy wants to close in TWO WEEKS. We are going to counter with a more reasonable closing date and see where it goes from there. Say a prayer that this goes through and if so, that we can find another house!

First trip to the dentist

Sophie had her first visit to the dentist today. Amazingly, she did great. She let the hygentist brush and even polish her teeth. I was so proud! She sat there and just let her do her thing, then she opened wide for the dentist to inspect her mouth. She was very excited about the new toothbrush she got to pick out and her "big girl" toothpaste. She kept showing everyone her teeth afterward, she was so proud.

brushing....she never lets us do this without a fight!
polishing
and rinsing...yay for Sophie!!

Christmas cookie make-up day

I always make decorated sugar cookies for Christmas, and this year was no exception. But for some strange and puzzling reason, when I made them this Christmas they ended up tasting VERY salty. I racked my brain, trying to figure out why since I don't even add the 1/2 teaspoon of salt that my recipe calls for. It made no sense. A few days later, I made some cranberry orange bread and that too tasted really salty. Again, I put no salt in it! So after checking to make sure I didn't have salt in the sugar jar, I checked the flour. One little taste told me that the flour was definitely tainted with something salty. I instantly got made at Martha White for ruining my Christmas baking. How dare she put salt in her flour?!! I was seriously ready to go to Kroger to return that bag of flour and demand a refund. But after closer inspection of the bag, I realized I had accidently bought a bag of self-rising flour. Oops. I guess my recipes were getting double-doses of baking soda or something. Anyway, Sophie and I had a re-do this weekend. I had to post this succession of pics. because they show just how o.c.d. my little sweetie is.....

having fun rolling the dough"uh oh, there's flour on the dough! I need to blow it off..."

"oh no! now it's on my hands!"
happy again after having her hands washed

Notice anything different?

Yep, it's the hair. No, she didn't magically grow more hair overnight. It's a wig. A build-a-bear wig to be exact. I thought it would be fun to put it on her to see what she'd look like if she did have a nice thick head of hair. Maybe someday..... :-)

Christmas 2008

Here I am, already a week into the new year and I'm just now posting Christmas. It's been a crazy few months, first getting ready for Christmas, then celebrating, then trying to recover from it! We had a blast with Sophie this year. She really got into the Santa thing and really enjoyed opening all her presents. Now we just hope and pray we sell this house sometime in 2009 so we can get into one that has room for all of her stuff!
